ASCAP
ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, stands as a membership association representing over 950,000 songwriters, composers, and music publishers. Founded and governed by music creators, ASCAP is the sole performing rights organization in the U.S. operating on a not-for-profit basis. With a vast repertory of over 18 million musical works, ASCAP licenses businesses worldwide, including streaming services, cable television, radio, satellite radio, as well as brick-and-mortar establishments such as retail stores, hotels, clubs, restaurants, and bars.
ASCAP plays a crucial role in collecting licensing fees, identifying, matching, and processing trillions of performances annually, ensuring that nearly 90 cents of every dollar is returned to its members as royalties. The ASCAP blanket license provides an efficient solution for businesses to legally perform ASCAP music while respecting the rights of songwriters and composers to be compensated fairly.
Putting music creators first, ASCAP advocates for their rights and the value of music on Capitol Hill, drives industry innovation, builds a supportive community, and provides the necessary resources for creators to thrive in their careers.
